Adolescent Medicine – Physician, Bureau of School Health Join to apply for the Adolescent Medicine – Physician, Bureau of School Health role at NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene . Position Type: Part-Time – 35 hours/week The Office of School Health (OSH) promotes the health of 1.3 million NYC school children through various health services and initiatives. School Physicians have served NYC students for over a century. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Providing sexual and reproductive health services, including pregnancy tests, contraception, counseling, and education. Managing chronic diseases, conducting health screenings, and providing health education and referrals. Performing mandated physical exams such as new admission exams, sports physicals, and working paper physicals. Developing relationships with community health providers to optimize student health management. Maintaining accurate student health records using the Automated Student Health Record (ASHR). Supporting school health education and prevention programs. Consulting with school nurses and administration on health concerns and medical accommodations. Participating in meetings and providing clinical assistance during environmental or communicable disease outbreaks. Supporting initiatives on asthma, reproductive health, obesity, and diabetes. Providing training and presentations to school staff, community organizations, parents, and students. Engaging in research and quality improvement activities. Attending mandated trainings and professional development sessions. Preferred Skills: Strong clinical experience with adolescents and reproductive health.
