About the Role Due to retirement, we’re looking for a dynamic Depot Manager Designate to learn all aspects of our Hire Depot operations. In this pivotal role you will work with an experienced General Manager to ensure the depot runs smoothly, uphold the highest Health and Safety standards, and drive profitability. After approximately 12 months working with the team, you will take on the role of Depot Manager. Your Role (During the Designate Phase) Lead with Excellence – oversee depot operations to ensure everything runs seamlessly. Champion Safety – uphold rigorous Health and Safety standards to protect our team and operations. Drive Success – manage depot performance to achieve operational and financial success. Key Responsibilities (After Approximately 12 Months) Promote and expand Wernick Hire by sourcing new enquiries. Respond promptly to all enquiries to ensure customer satisfaction. Provide precise and profitable costing for all enquiries. Conduct thorough site surveys and produce clear, accurate sketch drawings when needed. Coordinate and manage hire contracts from order receipt to handover. Monitor progress to ensure timely completion of orders. Develop staff through effective training and mentorship. Ensure strict Health and Safety compliance. Take overall responsibility for the depot's P&L, cost management and profitability. Oversee yard and office staff, handle basic HR functions and record sickness/absence with the HR department. Maintain a thorough understanding of each job function within the depot. Use the MCS RM/CRM system proficiently. Ensure quality management system awareness and compliance. Manage asset records accurately. Attend and pass the IOSH course and participate in Team Academy leadership and sales training. Remain composed in a busy, high‑pressure environment and make independent decisions. Plan workload effectively, multitask and delegate tasks evenly among the team. Communicate at all levels and take ownership of issues, providing solutions or suggestions for resolution. Ensure depot KPIs are met or exceeded. Adhere to customer Service Level Agreements. Our Ideal Candidate Previous management experience, ideally within the hire or construction industry.
