Job Overview

Semper Home Loans is seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Lock Desk Specialist to join our team. The Lock Desk Specialist will be responsible for managing and processing mortgage rate locks, monitoring market movements, and ensuring accuracy in all rate lock activities. This position requires close collaboration with hedge firms and internal teams to optimize loan pricing strategies and mitigate risk. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of mortgage pricing, market trends, and an ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Rate Lock Management: Process mortgage rate lock requests, confirmations, and extensions while ensuring accurate entry into the system.
• Market Monitoring: Track and analyze market conditions, interest rate trends, and pricing updates to recommend optimal rate lock strategies.
• Hedge Firm Collaboration: Work directly with hedge firms to manage the companys pipeline hedge positions, ensuring effective pricing strategies and risk mitigation.
• Pricing Coordination: Communicate and coordinate with the secondary marketing team to ensure accurate pricing for loan officers and brokers.
• Compliance: Ensure compliance with all internal policies, investor guidelines, and regulatory requirements in rate lock practices.
• Reporting & Documentation: Maintain accurate records of rate locks, pricing changes, and market movements. Provide detailed reports and updates to leadership.
• Team Collaboration: Work closely with loan officers, underwriters, and the secondary marketing team to resolve rate lock issues and provide support for complex scenarios.

Qualifications

• Education: Bachelors degree in Finance, Economics, Business, or a related field is preferred but not required.

Experience

• 2+ years of experience in a mortgage lock desk, secondary marketing, or capital markets role.
• Familiarity with mortgage pricing, rate sheets, and market conditions.

Skills & Competencies

• Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret market data and trends.
• Knowledge of mortgage hedge strategies and risk management.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, particularly with external hedge firms and internal teams.
• Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency in mortgage software systems such as Encompass, Optimal Blue, and other pricing engines.
