Position Summary:

The Personal Banker provides quality customer service by greeting customers, ascertaining needs and making outbound sales calls. Advise customers in their selection of various accounts and financial services. Duties include opening, maintaining and closing of all account types, processing deposit and loan transactions as needed, solving more complex customer problems, achieving personal and office sales and service goals, cross selling and referring business to other areas, onboarding new customers, and handling consumer loan inquiries and closings.

Essential Duties:

1. Provides exceptional customer service by greeting customers and assessing customer needs. Answer questions regarding bank products and services.
2. Opens new deposit accounts.
3. Manages customer portfolio, services relationships and cross sells appropriate products and services to meet customer needs, assuring customer satisfaction, and achieving personal and retail sales goals.
4. Accepts loan applications including obtaining income verification documents and perform consumer loan closings.
5. Responsible for direct participation in the achievement of personal and retail sales goals.
6. State insurance licenses may be required for the sale of credit insurance.
7. Generate production reports such as sales production and daily action plans.
8. Develops and maintains relationships with banking partners to maximize sales opportunities and achieve minimum sales standards.
9. Makes appropriate customer referrals to other bank functional areas such as Real Estate Lending, Wealth Management, and Commercial departments.
10. Effectively handles more complex customer problems and inquiries as well as ensuring that resolution and follow-up are completed in an accurate and timely matter.
11. May perform safe deposit box operations such as opening new accounts, allowing customers access to their boxes and account maintenance.
12. Serves as backup for Receptionist/Lock Box and/or Telephone receptionist.

Qualifications:

These specifications are general guidelines based on the minimum experience normally considered essential to the satisfactory performance of this position. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required to perform the position in a satisfactory manner. Individual abilities may result in some deviation from these guidelines.

• High school diploma or equivalent education required. A minimum of two years banking, sales, or service experience preferred. Knowledge of financial products and services, experience in opening new deposit accounts, and experience in cross selling specific products required.
• Basic knowledge of bank operations, products and services; related state and federal laws and regulations, and other Bank operational policies and procedures.
• Proficient in computer terminal and personal computer operation; mainframe computer system; software programs of diverse functionality used by the Bank, including but not limited to, desktop applications and administrative programs and resources (Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook).
• Typing skills to meet production needs of the position.
• Basic math skills: balance accounts: add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals; locate routine mathematical errors; compute rate, ratio and percent.
• Effective oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to apply common sense to carry out instructions, interpret documents, understand procedures, write reports and correspondence, and speak clearly to customers and employees.
• Effective organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
