What You’ll Do:

  • Strategic Innovation: Identify and analyze the potential impacts of technological advancements on the energy grid, supporting the transition to sustainable energy.
  • Risk Modeling: Develop stochastic models that enable smart hedging decisions, protecting our clients from market volatility.
  • Simulation & Analysis: Build and utilize simulation models for production costing and transmission congestion, ensuring optimal resource allocation.
  • Trading & Valuation: Provide insights into trading strategies and asset valuation, driving profitability and sustainable growth.
  • Economic Advising: Offer economic advice to clients and senior management on portfolio management and strategic decision-making.
  • Forecasting: Predict key market drivers to inform long-term energy strategies for utilities.

Analytical Skills Required:

  • Proficiency in MS Office productivity and automation software, with an emphasis on Microsoft Excel.
  • Experience with production cost modeling software, such as PLEXOS or Aurora from Energy Exemplar.
  • Knowledge of SQL and NoSQL databases, with a knack for data mining and visualization.
  • Competency in R or Python for statistical programming and machine learning applications.
  • Working knowledge of R shiny or similar web application frameworks.
  • Ability to build both fundamental and probability-based models for asset and trade valuation.
  • Strong background in math, statistics, and stochastic modeling (e.g., Monte Carlo methods).
  • Excellent communication skills to present complex data and analyses in an understandable way.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, advanced mathematics, computer science, finance, economics, or a related field is required.
  • A Master’s degree is preferred, and a Ph.D. is a plus. Relevant industry experience is essential.

Certifications:

  • Professional Engineering License is desirable for candidates with an engineering background.
  • Certifications such as CFA (Certified Financial Analyst), PRIMA, or GARP (Professional Risk Manager Certification) are advantageous for those with a financial background.

Compensation:

  • Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications: $80,648 – $109,113, $94,880 - $128,368, $118,800 - $160,729.
  • Annual target short-term incentive rate of 20% of base salary based on corporate, team, and individual performance.
