Position Details The Athletic Department at The University of Tampa has a position available for a Strength and Conditioning Coach who will provide expertise, guidance and training in the area of strength training physical conditioning for all student athletes and sports teams to improve athletic performance. This position will report to the Athletic Director.
Responsibilities 1. Develop and implement strength, speed, agility, and conditioning program for assigned intercollegiate athletic sports.
2. Set up the schedule for strength and conditioning workouts for each sports team and maintain up-to-date records on the strength program of each team.
3. Work with Head Coaches to discuss and develop strength and conditioning programs for each specific sport.
4. Responsible for maintaining equipment inventory, budget, repairs, and to update the Athletic Director on recommendations for purchases of equipment.
5. Provide supervision, guidance, and proper training to student-athletes using free weights and other strength training equipment.
6. Supervise student workers and interns working in the strength and conditioning program.
7. Perform routine cleaning in the strength and conditioning room.
8. Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of, respect for, and development of skills to engage with those of other cultures and backgrounds.
Qualifications 1. Bachelor's degree required in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Physical Education, Biology or related fields. Relevant course work/experience could substitute for a specific degree.
2. Master's degree preferred.
3. Two (2) years' experience in strength and conditioning. Ability to effectively motivate athletes to achieve maximum potential.
4. Ability to effectively motivate athletes to achieve maximum potential.
5. Ability to work evenings, weekends and holidays.
6. Ability to lift equipment/weights over 50 pounds.
7. Knowledge of rules of the NCAA in all aspects as it relates to this position.
8. Working knowledge of computers.
9. Knowledge of or the ability to learn quickly The University of Tampa software programs such as Workday and Microsoft Office.
10. Willingness to embrace new technologies and innovative organizational practices.
