Student Success Coach
Part-Time
Albizu University
Miami Campus

The Student Success Coach serves as a mentor to students who are assigned and or referred and provides individualized case management to support academic success and continued enrollment. The Student Success Coach communicates with students frequently and intentionally through multiple methods, including but not limited to face-to-face meetings, email, or phone to assist them in understanding and accessing the variety of resources within the university support services to address areas of need. The person in this role supports student motivation and academic success; this may include but is not limited to setting academic goals related to coursework or projects and helping students cultivate habits that result in academic success, and referrals for other support services such as tutoring, wellness, or career placement. The student Success Coach develops a professional relationship with students to coach and support their navigation of the university system. The Student Success Coach escalates potential issues that present barriers and academic needs to the Academic Counselor and collaborates with Student Affairs on retention projects.

Performs other duties related to retention, new student orientation, and student life as needed. This role is a direct report to the Academic Counselor and forms part of the Student Affairs Department to support student achievement and retention.

Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree. Ability to work flexible hours Monday-Friday.
• Experience working with students in an educational setting, experience using technology for communication, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Customer Service Oriented – General knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer service.
• Active Listening – Proficient skills in giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
• Speaking – Proficient skills in talking to others to convey information effectively.
• Reading Comprehension – Proficient understanding of written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.
• Follow through on assignments.
